Dutch State Lottery’s Heart-Winning Ways

Lauded by the ‘Gouden Loeki’ awards in the Netherlands, as the year’s best commercial for a record-breaking three times in a row, the Dutch State Lottery, and Amsterdam advertising agency of record TBWA\NEBOKO’s, New Year’s Eve jackpot-draw scenarios, have been enduringly heart-winning.

Their insightfully truthful message, that there are many rewarding moments in daily-life, that are more valuable than winning a big prize, have become a popular annual highlight of December viewing fare.

1. Dutch State Lottery, Husky Frida

Directed by filmmaker Ismael ten Heuvel, the scenario about a devoted son, who takes his father on an unforgettable outdoor adventure, that includes a reunion with his Dad’s beloved huskies, features a stirring soundtrack, by Dutch film-music composer Jorrit Kleijnen, and lead singer Jacqueline Govaert, of the Dutch pop rock/alternative band Krezip, and ends with an unexpected twist, and a heart-warming, big smile.

2. Dutch State Lottery, Cuckoo-Clock Fritsie

Production Company and VFX Studio: CZAR, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Directed by filmmaker Martin Werner, the inspired scenario, featuring cuckoo-clock ‘Fritsie’, is a an endearing and masterly produced tale.

The resonant soundtrack is by Dutch, indie pop–ambient band, HAEVN, and British singer-songwriter, Jasmine van den Bogaerde, popularly known by her stage name of Birdy.

3. Dutch State Lottery, Kitten Frummel

Post Production and VFX Studio: Ambassadors, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Directed by filmmaker Bart Timmer, the short-film scenario, featuring an adorable black kitten named ‘Frummel’, is brought to life in a tale with an unexpected ending, and a stirring soundtrack, by Jorrit Kleijnen, and Jacob Meijer, form the Amsterdam based, composer collective studio, Lion Noir.

Contrary to the superstition that black cats cause bad luck, Frummel’s caring home provider, who discovered that with every meow the kitten magically seems to create good luck, spearheaded the campaign’s media integration that included a collaboration with local shelters, and the national organisation, Dierenasiels.com, to bring good luck to Dutch shelter cats.

4. Dutch State Lottery, Little Dog Frekkel

Directed by filmmaker Martin Werner, the ‘lost-snd-found’ scenario about a scruffy little dog named Frekkel, with low self esteem, is brought to emotive life, in an empathic short-film, featuring a soundtrack by Ambassadors Amsterdam’s, sound composer and engineer, Rens Pluijm.

5. Dutch State Lottery, Hedgehog Freddie

Directed by filmmaker Ismael ten Heuvel, the scenario about Freddie, a cute, homeless hedgehog, and his caring rescuer, features a masterly created ‘virtual’ hedgehog, with props and special effects, that is impressively life-like.

The soundtrack of the charming short-film, is by Ambassadors Post-Production Studio Amsterdam’s, musician, composer, and sound designer, Sebastian Roestenburg.
